Ottawa 67's Vs. London Knights February 20, 2017

London Knights (36-11-7, 3 rd in Western Conference)                                                                 Claus Anderson-Getty Images  This is game is a story of teams going in two different directions in the standings. London (6-4-0 last 10 games) is in the middle of a two game losing streak, but that does not take away from their stellar regular season that has them clinching a playoff spot over a month before the season ends. Ottawa (2-7-1 last 10 games) is in the middle of a 6 game losing streak and is in danger of missing out on the playoffs baring a huge end of season push. Otters beat Knights 5-1

The Erie Otters defeated the London Knights on Wednesday night by a score of 5-1 in front of 3,865 boisterous fans at the Erie Insurance Center.   This extended the Otters winning streak to 11 games in a row, the longest such winning streak in the league currently. Right Winger Alex Debrincat scored a goal and chipped in two assists, including his 100 th point of the season*, and Dylan Strome scored two goals and added an assist to lead the way for the Otters. This game was never really close as the Otters jumped to a quick 2-0 lead in the first and never looked back while the Knights were only able to muster a lowly 17 shots on Otters backup goaltender Joseph Murcado . Knights backup goaltender Tyler Johnson made 26 saves on 31 shots in the loss and defenseman Evan Bouchard had the lone goal. The Otters will go on the road next to visit the Missisauga Steelheads on Friday while the London Knights will be at home on Friday to host the Owen Sound Attack.

Erie Otters Vs. London Knights February 15, 2017

Wednesday February 15, 2017 Erie Insurance Center, Erie PA Erie Otters (39-10-3, 1 st in Western Conference)   Vs. London Knights (36-9-7, 3 rd in Western Conference) This is one of the best rivalry matchups in the OHL, as Erie always seems to be the regular season powerhouse team but London manages to do much better in the playoffs. Thanks to Erie’s victory on Saturday 2/11 both Erie and London have both qualified for the playoffs. Skaters in the spotlight: Erie: Alex DeBrincat (Chicago 2016 2 nd round pick, 39 th overall) -        302 total points in his three years with the team -        Leads the OHL in points (97), goals (46), 3 rd in assists (51) -        21 points behind fellow teammate Dylan Strome for all time Erie points leader Dylan Strome (Arizona 2015 1 st round pick, 3 rd overall) -        All time points leader for the Otters (323) -        13 goals, 31 assists in only 19 games since being returned from Arizona -        Score

First Blog Post!

Welcome to the first blog posting of Risers and Visors! Who am I? /Why am I posting? I am currently enrolled at Mercyhurst University with a double major in communication and Information Technology. I was a four year member of both the volleyball and lacrosse team at my high school, but for as long as I can remember I have always been interested in hockey. Over the past couple years my interest in hockey has pushed me from being just a casual viewer of NHL games towards more in depth views on the players themselves and what it takes to make it into such a competitive league. During this push into the depths of the hockey world I began to notice that the further away you get from the NHL into the junior league ranks, there is a surprising lack of coverage which is something I hope to help change through the creation of this blog. What will I be posting? I will primarily be using this blog to highlight interesting games in the Ontario Hoc
