Barach, Lammon Named 2018-2019 Co-Captains

ERIE, PA. -- Associate head coach Greg Gardner and the Mercyhurst men’s ice hockey team announced their captains for the 2018-2019 season earlier this week. Senior forwards Joshua Lammon and Derek Barach have been voted by their teammates to serve as co-captains.

Barach enters his fourth season with the Lakers with 112 games played. The Glenmont New York native served as an alternate captain during the 2016-2017 season and as an co-captain this past season.  With 107 career points to his name thus far, Barach is the only active member of the 100-point club currently at Mercyhurst.

Lammon has 106 total games played over the past three seasons and is one of the Lakers’ best defensive forwards. Last season the Jackson Michigan native tallied 8 goals and 11 assists while winning a team high 52 percent of the over 750 face-offs he took last season.

The Lakers finished out last season as the Atlantic Hockey regular season champions with an overall record of 21-12-4 and key out of conference victories over Ferris State, Penn State, and Wisconsin.

Mercyhurst will start the 2018-2019 season on October 6 when they welcome the Bowling Green Falcons to the Mercyhurst Ice Center. The Lakers will then play host to the Ice Breaker tournament that next weekend, being joined by Notre Dame, Providence, and Miami (Ohio) in the season opening NCAA showcase.

Credit Erie Highlight Reel Unfortunately each of the last three years the Otters have failed to win the OHL championship and qualify for a shot at the coveted Memorial cup, but this year just might be their chance. After management took a look at all of the aging star power on their team that will soon be gone, most of whom will be gone at the end of the season, the...
