OHL Playoff Roundup: Round #2 Matchups

I'd like to start off this post by apologizing for not fully covering all of the first round matchup in their entirety, I haven't had the time to finish them off so I will briefly go over all of them right now:


The Erie Otters were the first team to advance to the second round by sweeping the Sarnia Sting in four straight games.

Peterborough was the next to advance to the second round with their four game sweep of the Niagara Ice Dogs.

Sault St. Marie was the next team moving on to the second round of the playoffs with a four games to one victory over the Flint Firebirds.

Owen Sound defeated the Kitchener Rangers in their first series four games to one.

The Mississauga Steelheads doubled up the Ottawa 67's four games to two in order to move on to the next round of the playoffs.

Oshawa won their first round matchup against Sudbury four games to two.

Kingston came away with a four to three series victory over the Hamilton Bulldogs, winning game seven in overtime.

London was the final team to make it into the second round after beating the Windsor Spitfires in seven games.


Round #2 Matchups: 

Western Conference: 

#1 Erie Otters Vs. #4 London Knights 
- Erie swept their first round series four games to none, London needed all seven games to make it out of theirs
- Otters records: Regular season- 50-15-3 Postseason- 4-0
- London records: Regular season- 46-15-7 Postseason- 4-3

- Both of these two teams defeated their opponents in the first round in five total games to advance
- Greyhounds records: Regular season- 48-16-4 Postseason- 4-1-0
-Attack records: Regular season- 49-15-4 Postseason- 4-1-0
- Leading scorers for Sault St. Marie: Regular season- Bobby MacIntyre (28 G, 52A) Postseason- Boris Katchouck (5G, 3A)

- Owen Sound swept the regular season series between these two teams, winning both games


Eastern Conference: 

#1 Peterborough Petes Vs. #4 Kingston Frontenacs 
- Peterborough swept their first round series in four games while Kingston needed all seven games plus overtime to win their series
- Petes records: Regular season- 42-21-5 Postseason- 4-0
- Frontenacs records: Regular series- 33-29-6 Postseason- 4-3
- Leading scorers for Peterborough: Regular season- Matthew Timms (11 G, 52 A) Postseason- Jonathan Ang (5 G, 1 A)

- Kingston won the regular seasons series 3 games to 2

#2 Mississauga Steelheads Vs. #3 Oshawa Generals 
- Both of these two teams defeated their first round opponents in six games to advance
- Steelheads records: Regular season- 34-21-14 Postseason- 4-2-0
- Generals records: Regular season- 40-23-5 Postseason- 4-2-0
- Leading scorers for Mississauga: Regular season- Owen Tippett (44 G, 31 A) Postseason- Michael McLeod (6 G, 5 A)

- Oshawa swept the four game regular season series against the Steelheads.

The Greyhounds from Sault Ste. Marie only needed 29 shots on goal to score 6 goals and defeat the Kitchener Rangers by a score of 6-1 in front of home crowd of 3,800 fans. Credit Elite Prospects  With the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea  less than a year away and NHL still not having any set plans in place for their sending their players to these games, it is looking as if the biggest hockey league in North America will not be participating.
