OHL Playoff Roundup: Hamilton Bulldogs Vs. Kingston Frontenacs

The Kingston Frontenacs came away with a 4-3 series victory with a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory in game seven.

Game #1: Kingston (0) Vs. Hamilton (2) 1-0 Hamilton 
The Hamilton Bulldogs spoiled Kingston's home playoff opener, blanking the Frontenacs 2-0 in front of 2,866 disappointed fans. Bulldog's Center Will Bitten scored both goals and goaltender Dawson Carty posted a shutout stopping all 19 Kingston shots for the victory. Kingston goaltender Jeremy Helvig stopped 27 of 29 shots in the loss.

Game #2: Kingston (4) VS. Hamilton (5) 2-0 Hamilton 
Once again the Hamilton Bulldogs spoiled Kingston's home ice advantage, beating them 5-4 in front of 2,375 fans at the Rogers K-Rock Center. Kingston finally solved the stingy Hamilton defense when they scored at 7:00 minutes of the first period and later at 16:00 minutes as well. Hamilton then answered in the second period with five goals of their own, including two goals from assistant captain Nick Petti including the game winner at 14:29.

Game #3: Hamilton (2) Vs. Kingston (4) 2-1 Hamilton 
Tonight Kingston was able to return the favor as they defeated the Bulldogs 4-2 in their first home game of the playoffs. Kingston came back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits in the first two frames to take the victory behind a three goal third period. Rookie left winger Nathan Dunkley led the Frontenacs with two goals and one assist while Hamilton goaltender Dawson Carty stopped 26 of 29 shots in the loss.

Game #4: Hamilton (1) Vs. Kingston(5) Series Tied 2-2 
The Home playoff woes for each team continued as the Frontenacs defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 5-1 to tie the series up at two games a piece. Kingston goaltender Jeremy Helvig stopped 22 of 23 Hamilton shots in the victory while Hamilton's Dawson Carty had his second rough outing in a row as he only managed to stop 7 of 10 shots before being replaced in the second period.

Game #5: Kingston (4) Vs. Hamilton (2) 3-2 Kingston 
The Kingston Frontenacs finally broke the home winless streak and took a strangle hold on the playoff series with a 4-2 victory over the bulldogs. Kingston got out to a quick 2-0 lead after goals from Ryan Cranford and Stephen Desrocher in the first period. Frontenac forward Linus Nyman scored the game winner at 14 minutes of the second period, his second of the playoffs. Hamilton will need to find a way to win at home in order to keep themselves alive in the series.

Game #6: Hamilton (5) Vs. Kingston (2) Tied 3-3 
The Bulldogs were able to pull out a game six win against the Frontenacs 5-2 in front of a home crowd of 2,426 fans. After falling behind 1-0 midway through the first period the Bulldog's turned it on and Matthew Strome scored the game winner at 13:42 of the second period, his first goal of the playoffs. Hamilton Goalie Dawson Carty was solid once again, stopping 28 of 30 Kingston shots. Kingston will host the final and deciding game seven tomorrow night.

Game #7: Kingston (3) Vs. Hamilton (2) OT Kingston Wins 4-3 
Kingston was able to pull away with the game seven victory 3-2 over the Bulldogs in overtime. The Hamilton Bulldogs pulled ahead with two quick goals in the second period but that was the end of their luck for the night. Kingston would come back and score the game's last three goals to take the game. Kingston rookie left winger Linus Nyman scored the game winner at 8:48 of the overtime period, the second of his two goals and one assist on the night.
